Swain letters, 1854-1854.

Bound manuscript including original and typescripts of letters from Ben Swain to his parents describing driving a cattle train from San Antonio, Texas to California in 1854. He describes the outfit as well as stops along the way. In Arizona, he mentions the Apaches, the Pimas, trading cattle at Warner's Ranch and San Xavier del Bac Mission.
